Danish Army
Specific: In early 1993 the
Army Material Command signed a contract with General
Motors Denmark about deliverance of the Opel Astra as
replacement for the VW Golf. The Astra competed against a newer VW Golf
and the Nissan Sunny SLX. Astra is delivered as 3-door
and 5-door caravan in the CL-version.
The Opel Astra is used at the Garrisons
motorpools, at army schools etc.
Historical: The Opel Astra F replaced the Kadett
E om the German marked in August 1991. Although the
change of name indicated a entirely new car, the Astra
was widely based on the model it replaced. Production
took place in Bochum and Eisenach in Germany and in
Lutton in Great Britain. A cosmetic facelift was made in
autumn 1994.
When production seized in February 1998 close to
4.200.000 vehicles had been produced.
