Danish Army
Specific: This 3000 kg 4x4
truck has superseded the Unimog 416 as a squad- car in the early 1985 and is
now in widespread use in many different configurations by
the Danish Army. The initial contract, signed in 1984,
was 725 trucks worth 45 mill. DM. By end 1990 989 was
delivered and 60 was optional.
Historical: The MAN 8 series was first
introduced in 1979 as a joint venture between MAN and VW.
A production model was shown in 1983.
Production was shared between the MAN factory in
Salzgitter-Watenstedt and the VW factory in Hannover.
From 1986 until 1993 when production of the MAN 8 was
shut down, manufacturing took place by MAN only.
