The teletype van was used by all Signal Battalions. The van carried 2 telex-machines which were encrypted with either Siemens M190 or TSEC/KW-7 equipment. The power was supplied by a Villiers (later Briggs & Stratton) generator .
The shelter was heated by a petrol driven Swingfeuer-heater.
17 vehicles (both configurations) were produced (converted office vans) around 1978 - 1979.
In the 2. (DA) Signal Battalion the vehicles were superseded by Landrover 109 SIII in 1985.
