Corbitt |
Corbitt was
founded in 1899 and began truck manufacture in 1913. By
the 1920´s, as the Corbitt Motor Truck Co., they were
one of America´s largest truck producers. The model
range included 5 ton trucks, and in the 1930´s heavier
trucks, up to 15 ton, were added to the range. Military and civilian trucks were produced during WW II, including heavy 6 x 4 tractor units. Volume production came to and end in 1952 when the founder, Richard Corbitt, retired. An attempt to revive the Corbitt business with a build-on-order approach was made in 1957, but only lasted short. |
