A mortar platoon consisted of 3 sections, each divided into 2 groups. Each group had 2 carriers with a 81 mm mortar, ammunition, radio, cable reel and field phone etc. Besides that had a Carrier for the platoon leader, 3 3/4 ton trucks with spare ammunition and 3 motorcycles.
The mortar, known in Denmark as "81 mm morter, M. 45 E" had an effective range up to 2.500 m.
