Here shown is one of the
first Danish ambulances in the Piranha series ready for
deployment abroad. A total of 16 vehicles have been
delivered from Mowag in Switzerland between April and
July 2005.
The main difference from the "H"-version is
engine and suspension. The "C"-version is
powered by a 6-cylinder Caterpillar C-9 EURO III engine
developing 400 hp coupled to a ZF 7HP602 automatic
gearbox. The suspension is independent for each wheel
with coil springs at the front wheels and torsion bars at
the rear. The "C"-version will, depending on version, be fitted with an
Overhead Weapon Station with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.
A total of 91 "C"-versions are to be delivered
until July 2007.
The ambulance, which are currently being equipped at the
Army Production Facilities in Hjoerring, are expected to
supersede the Sisu XA-185 ambulance in February 2006.
The ambulance can carry 1 patient on stretcher and 5
sitting patients, or 2 patients on stretchers and 1
sitting patient. Air-condition is standard equipment.
