Specific: 2 MB-trac 700 was
transferred to Oksboel Training Area in 2004 from the Air
Force, where there were used as plane-tugs. The shown
MB-trac is used in camp-maintenance, and the second for
handling the armoured vehicles at the maintenance
facilities.
Historical: The prototype of whats was to become
the MB-trac, was ready for testing in April 1969. The
65/70-series went into production in July 1973 with some
520 units produced by end of 1973. Some of the components
were "of-the-shelf" from the various Unimog
ranges. Production of the 65/70 range seized in December
1975.
The MB-trac developed over the years with bigger and more
powerfull units produced.
With the last MB-trac made at the Gaggenau factory
December 17th 1991, more than 41.000 had been produced.
The MB-trac 700-series were produced from 1976 to 1987.
