WW II.
Historical: The British Ford Motor Company's
wartime production of passenger cars was based on the
militarised Model 62 "22 HP" chassis, powered
by the more common "30 HP" V8-engine, with 2
body styles: 4/5 seater saloon and a all-steel heavy utility wagon.
Both had a military pattern front and austere finish.
The model 62 had been introduced in 1936 and was powered by a 2.2
litre V8 engine - sometimes described as the "Alsace engine".
The WOA 1 and
WOA 2 was introduced in May 1941. Models with an "A" suffix (e.g. WOA
2/A) used
6.50 - 16 tyres on standard road wheels.
In wide-spread
use within the British Army, Air Force and Navy as staff
and command car.
A total of 11.754 WOA 1 and 2´s were produced between May 1941 and July 1944.
