Danish Army
Specific: The Chevrolet 8440 is
a Danish rebodied WW II FAT delivered as a part of the Canadian aid
program (MDAP)
between 1951 - 1955. Used as squad-car.
A small number appears to have been used in
their intended role as artillery tractors (144 kb)
during the 1960´s.
Historical: Standard CMP 101 inch wheelbase
chassis. The CGT was based on the similar British
Morris-Commercial field artillery tractor. It was
intended to tow the British 17- and 25-pounder field
guns, in combination with the standard artillery limber
carrying tools and ammunition.
Some 22.000 CGT and FGT (same vehicle produced by Ford)
were produced during WW II.
